The agreement covers eight select Asian markets.

Editor’s Take: The biosimilars will provide further options to treat multiple cancers and bleeding in patients with hemophilia.
Alvotech has a licensing and commercialization agreement with Lotus Pharmaceutical, covering two Alvotech biosimilars in the United States and Asia. The partnership applies to eight Asian markets: South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
The biosimilars are AVT34, referencing AstraZeneca’s Imfinzi (durvalumab), and AVT87, referencing Genentech’s Hemlibra (emicizumab). Imfinzi is used in the treatment of multiple cancers, while Hemlibra prevents or reduces bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia.
In the U.S., Alvotech retains rights to commercialize both AVT34 and AVT87 alongside Lotus. Lotus will commercialize the products through Alvogen, its U.S.-based, wholly-owned subsidiary. Lotus has exclusive commercialization rights in the eight Asian markets.
Alvotech is the exclusive supplier of the products in all applicable markets.
“This agreement represents an important evolution of Alvotech’s commercial strategy,” Alvotech CEO Lisa Graver said. “We will have the opportunity to participate directly in the future commercialization of our products in the United States. [This allows] us to retain a greater share of the value we create through our development and manufacturing platform. At the same time, our partnership extends the potential reach of these two important pipeline assets across key Asian markets. We look forward to working together to bring these medicines to patients and broaden access to high-quality biologics.”
“We’re pleased to partner on two important biosimilar candidates that meaningfully advance [our] global growth,” Lotus CEO Petar Vazharov said. “We are building a strong foundation for the future commercialization of AVT34 and AVT87 across key global markets. These candidates expand the scale and reach of our biosimilar portfolio in oncology and rare diseases. [They] reinforce our commitment to broadening access to high-quality medicines.”
